Hotel Al Hamra Hotel Kuwait

My room felt a bit dated, the desk chair wasn't comfortable for working, and the lighting was dark. Still, breakfast was great, with a wide range of fresh options that changed each day. The staff were excellent and ready to help with any request. I forgot my charger, but they found it, let me know, and kept it safe for me.

I spent over 180 days here during an office project in Kuwait, and it came to feel like a second home. Daily travel was convenient from the location, and the surroundings were peaceful. My room stayed clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout. The staff were friendly and always willing to help with whatever I needed. I appreciated the comfort and service for a long stay, and it would also suit a short one.

The rooftop pool is beautifully designed and a lovely place to unwind, though it was quite cold at night in November, and the hot tub wasn't any warmer. The hotel and staff were pleasant, and I enjoyed the buffet meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The selection was good and the food consistently enjoyable, even if the place isn't especially luxurious. The spa could use some attention. The sauna had no scents, dim lighting that made the temperature and sand timer hard to see, and a wooden cover that came loose and fell a couple of times with light contact. The first shower temperature display from the left also seemed reversed. There was no relaxing music, and after the sauna or steam room the only place to sit was a small, overly cold air-conditioned hallway. In Room 902, shower water usually spread across the bathroom floor despite my trying to hold the curtain against the wall. It nearly reached the mirror on the other side. It wasn't a major issue, but it was inconvenient. A few fixes to the spa and bathroom would improve an otherwise comfortable stay.

The service was what I loved most, especially the authentic, friendly help from Raj at Reception and Sanjay at the Healthclub. For a business trip, the whole place ran better than the roughly twenty different 5* hotels I’ve stayed at across the GCC. It’s a 4 star hotel with a 90s feel, like Kuwait in general, and I liked that. The rooms are a bit dated but very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was decent, and the large rooftop pool had clean, refreshing water, perfect after a hot day. Check-in and checkout were quick, the laundry service was high quality, and airport transport was complimentary, with WiFi in the car. The location is central.
