Discovery Point No. 18

Booking online was easy, and the third-floor view was incredible. We loved being just steps from the beach and pool, with good snorkeling offshore and plenty of sandy spots for floating. The condo setup worked especially well with younger kids: all three of ours stayed in one room, with two sharing a queen bed. Parking gets a little tight with a larger vehicle, but it’s manageable. We’ve been to Cayman four times, and this would be our first choice next time. We’ll be back.

We’re staying here now, and it’s been miserable. During our stay, groups outside our unit have been yelling, apparently after drinking, and the front desk has been no help. When I went to raise the issue, I was turned away because they were busy, and other times the office was locked. The owner’s response said the situation had been assessed, but it wasn’t. We’ve had to put up with this more than once, and the place feels too crowded to get much peace and quiet. Service has been so-so at best. The front desk told us they couldn’t control the group’s behavior, which is why we’re looking to move to another property nearby with availability. There are 25 or more college-age people here with their parents, apparently for a family reunion. They swarm up and down the beach with a speaker, then sit right outside our condo and shout. It feels like being on a college campus. When I tried to signal politely that other guests were around and wanted quiet, I just got stares. We’ve visited many islands and been to the Caymans before, but haven’t had this experience elsewhere. If you’re after a trashy boardwalk or KOA campground atmosphere, this might suit you. We work all year and wanted some quiet on vacation, and we found better options within a few minutes’ walk to either side. In my picture, you can also see chickens tearing up the grass outside our window, left uncleaned, and lounge chairs stacked in front of the unit windows.

Swimming in both the pool and the sea was a highlight, and we really enjoyed the local restaurants. Our condo, unit #16, was bright, cheerful, spotless, and spacious, with an amazing view. Groceries and supplies are about a 17 minute walk away. We can’t wait to come back!

We’re leaving tomorrow and I’m sad about it. Unit #16 had everything we needed, and it was peaceful and quiet. There’s a big pool, miles of beautiful beach, and a great sunset view. Highly recommend!
