The Grand Caymanian Resort

I’ve stayed at the Grand Caymanian Resort for years, and the service has been consistently fantastic. The team is welcoming, and I’ve referred plenty of guests who ended up loving the property as much as I do. As a local real estate agent, I’ve also represented buyers and sellers purchasing units here, which says a lot about the quality, value, and lifestyle. It’s pet-friendly too, a big plus. The resort is peaceful, with lovely grounds and gorgeous views over the North Sound. The one-bedroom condos are spacious and well-equipped for short or longer stays, and the amenities are excellent. Its central location makes it handy for getting around the island, from Seven Mile Beach to Rum Point. It really feels like one of Cayman’s best-kept secrets, with a relaxed, authentic island feel. I highly recommend it, whether it’s your first visit or you’re looking for a Cayman home-away-from-home.

The lobby and outdoor areas were nicely decorated, and the lobby smelled fresh. The halls leading to the room smelled foul, maybe like mildew, and had holes in the ceiling. The room furniture was dated, and the bathroom smelled like sewer the morning after check-in. On our second night, loud music and arguing came from the adjoining room. My daughter and I woke around 1 am to cursing and shouting, and we were afraid for our safety because it sounded like they might get physical. The front desk said complimentary breakfast was the only compensation they could offer. I don’t recommend this place and wouldn’t stay here again.

It was a relaxing stay, with very nice staff, tasty food, and clean grounds. The breakfast was really good. We skipped the buffet because I wished there were more vegetarian choices. Our room floor was a little dirty, though with people tracking in sand on their shoes, I suppose it’s hard to get completely clean. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, but staff brought some quickly. The hotel sits on a golf course, away from the congested stretch of 7 Mile Beach hotels, shops, and restaurants. I liked being away from that area. If you want to be close to all of it, look elsewhere. I’d stay here again.

The hotel is a bit out of the way, but offers free shuttles to many destinations. Just remember to tip the drivers. The staff were top notch, especially at the front desk. They helped me several times and had lots of useful suggestions. My girlfriend attracts mosquitoes, but didn’t get bitten once. The bathroom was spotless, and the room was very clean. It didn’t feel luxurious, but it wasn’t cheap either, they struck a nice balance. If your reservation can include the breakfast deal, take it. The choices were top notch and well worth it. I’d check their availability before looking at other overpriced hotels. We had a very pleasant stay. Thank you, Grand Caymanian!
