We spent five nights here in May, split between two stays of three and two nights in rooms 504 and 314. Despite hearing that management had changed from Marriott to Sulo, both stays went really well. Our late night airport transfers were arranged smoothly, reception was very helpful, and the rooms were comfortable with good beds. The decor in the rooms and bathrooms is a little dated, but that didn’t affect our stay. Breakfast, served until 11:00, was a delight, and the friendly woman in charge of the buffet took good care of everyone and spoke good English. The hotel is centrally located in Aktau, close to the shore and good restaurants, and not far from the walkway with steps along the rocky coast.

I enjoyed my two full days at Renaissance hotel. My room was clean and had everything I needed, plus a view of the sea. There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and the main sights aren’t far away. Breakfast included a range of food and drinks. One drawback is that events such as weddings can make the hotel very noisy because the rooms aren’t soundproofed. A wedding went on until late at night during my last night, and I couldn’t sleep.

Construction noise starts around 9:30 a.m. and carries on constantly. It affects both the rooms and restaurant, and fumes from the work are quite noticeable in the corridors. I’ll update this once the work is finished. For now, I’d avoid this hotel, which is normally excellent.
