You don’t really feel like you’re in the city here, with the tall mountains behind the resort and rows of beautiful trees throughout. The tennis courts are well kept, and the soccer pitch is ready to use. There’s staff at reception around the clock, always ready to help. The rooms are spacious and airy, and they’re cleaned daily. Breakfast has a good spread with enough variety for different tastes. It’s a beautiful resort on the edge of Almaty, and I have no regrets about staying.

We stayed at Alpen Ville before and after our three-day tour of Kazakhstan’s main attractions. The rooms were fine, just very simple, and the pool was a good size with nice food and drink options. The staff don’t really speak English, but they were happy to help using Google Translate. The main drawback is that there aren’t shops or other amenities nearby, so you’ll always need a Yandex to get around.

Alpen Ville Hotel is a peaceful place to get away while still having convenient access to city attractions. It’s about 13 miles from Almaty International Airport, with places like the Botanical Garden and Dolphin Entertainment Center nearby, both roughly 3 miles away.
