I arrived around 11:30 PM on February 19, already worn out from flying from Tashkent to Almaty. The room was just as old-looking as the hotel, and it didn’t seem to have been cleaned before I got there. The toilet smelled terrible, the flush didn’t work, and there were insects on the floor. The elevator was slow too. I couldn’t sleep at all before 6:00 AM. I was worried about bed bugs, so I even sprayed alcohol on the bed. I’d paid for two days, but left the next morning and booked somewhere else for peace of mind. At first, when I entered the hotel, I thought its dated appearance might just be a first impression. I got my key and took the elevator up, but the room confirmed it.

The service felt well below what the price should get you. Housekeeping ignored the Do Not Disturb sign and banged on my door so loudly and aggressively that they woke me early. The staff showed little respect for guest privacy, and the whole thing lacked professionalism.

The rooms are okay. We didn’t ask for any particular services, but they gave us breakfast coupons for the restaurant next door without mentioning that it also serves pork. We only found that out after checking. Please keep it in mind.

For a budget stay in Almaty, this worked well. The shower had hot water and the bed was comfortable. I also used the laundry service. It was very good value, and the woman who picked up and brought back my clothes was friendly.

The room is fine for the price, but the listing says FREE WIFI. Whenever we ask reception for the password, the older lady there just says there’s no wifi.
