Aykun Capsule Hotel

The team made my stay better, they were warm, attentive and genuinely kind. The facilities and room features felt dated and quite basic, though, and the comfort didn’t quite meet my expectations. All in all, an average stay at Aykun Terrenkur.

The room was booked through Booking until the 24th, but while I was in the taxi to the hotel, I got a message saying my flight was delayed and moved to the 25th. I told the young guy at reception I needed one more night. He said it was no problem, he’d note it in the system and I could pay later. A few days later, I went back to reception and spoke with two women. They said there was no booking for the 24th to the 25th, so they made one there and then. I paid around 11,000 tenge in cash for the extra day. At checkout today, the same receptionist said I hadn’t paid for the 24th-25th. I asked them to check the cameras if they couldn’t remember :))). My taxi was waiting, so I had to leave. Then, at the airport, the hotel messaged to say the night was unpaid. They clearly hadn’t checked anything and just said they were “sure” :))) So I paid again, another 16 EUR for nothing, plus a 13 EUR international transaction fee. This is how you get scammed here. People, make sure to record a video when you pay :) I hope the owner sees this and actually checks the cameras. Maybe next time they’ll hire more professional staff instead of students who “don’t remember.” And if you want to contact me to apologize, don’t bother. Keep the money and keep scamming people :)) Have a nice day!

Updated Feb 2026. I stayed here for a second time, and it was just as nice as the first. It’s also central, and most, maybe all, of the reception staff speak English. I had comfortable rooms, and some have mountain views. The hotel has plenty of character and an interesting design, the staff were super polite and attentive, and I enjoyed the restaurant food. About the photo of the small room in the review below, I’m not sure what’s going on there. I stayed in 3 rooms because I made 3 separate bookings, and none looked like that. I think it may have been mixed up with a hostel of the same name.

Since staying here, my wife and I have both had food poisoning. Some breakfast items sit by the windows in direct sun, though the problem could have been with other food too. We never had this issue before coming here.
