On my first trip to Almaty, I found this place had a really comfortable atmosphere right in the town center. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything was within easy walking distance. There’s a yurt in the backyard, plus a great kitchen for making your own food and a place to wash clothes.

I’m leaving a bad review because availability seems inconsistent on Airbnb. The hostel showed as available for several days in September 2025, but nobody replied to my message there. When I called the number listed here, someone answered in Russian, with no English, and didn’t sound very polite. She later messaged on WhatsApp saying there was no availability, but didn’t answer my question about why Airbnb showed it as available.

The courtyard was a lovely spot to unwind and catch some sun, and having a kitchen made it easy to cook. I was lucky to meet someone great there, too. I only got to stay one night, which was a shame. I’ll be back next time!

It really has that homey feeling, even though it’s a gorgeous hostel that feels more like a guesthouse. Clean, cozy, comfortable, and such a warm atmosphere! My husband and I happened to be there for its first events, including Nauryz and Halloween. 5/5, or even 10/10 🥹🤗😍
