Grand Opera Hotel

Reception staff had a very bad attitude, the service was poor, and the rooms were small. Not worth the price and not recommended for tourists. Very bad.

It’s on a well-placed boulevard, though a little farther from the main bus terminal that runs day trips to the lakes area.

The hotel is beautiful and clean, with excellent staff and a great location. The price is high, though. We arrived tired at 8 in the morning, but they wouldn’t give us the rooms until we paid for a full day. I had booked two rooms for two weeks, so charging the price of a whole night for just a few hours was very bad.

At first things seemed OK, but the stay went downhill fast. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, and the location was good. During our five nights, though, the rooms were never cleaned. There was a partly used toilet roll when I checked in, and I had to ask reception for more. Breakfast was poor, with very little choice, cold fried eggs, bread, and cheese, and no drinks offered. The WiFi was spotty at best. At 4 am on my last night, staff tried to evict me despite my bill having been settled the day before. As a woman staying alone, having men persistently try to enter my room at that hour was frightening. Nobody else in my group had this issue, even though we were all on the same booking and paid at the same time. At checkout, they claimed I’d taken two beers and a Coca-Cola from the minibar. I don’t even drink beer, and I definitely hadn’t taken anything from it.
