The Ice Rink and its setting are both lovely. Mountains surround the place, the views are amazing, and the air feels so fresh. It's a huge rink with a fun atmosphere, even if you're not very good at skating.

The views were absolutely stunning. I climbed the stairs, all 854 steps and 210 m of elevation gain. It was a tough walk, but well worth it.

The mountain valley setting and snow-covered peaks around Medeu make for stunning scenery, and the fresh air is lovely whether you skate or just take in the views. It's a great outing for families, friends, or couples. Medeu is a must-see in Almaty, especially in winter, and it's one of the highest ice rinks in the world. Try the cable car up to Shymbulak from here too!
