The room felt like it might have been four-star back in 1991. The outlets didn't work, the carpet was dusty, the place smelled, and elevator noise kept me company all night. The spa and gym shut at 10 pm and are in another building. When I complained, I got empty talk, maybe AI-generated. They just don't seem to care. I was harassed in front of reception and the receptionist didn't help. I also asked for a lunch box because I had an early checkout. What I got was oily, poorly made, spilled over my luggage, and came without cutlery. They don't deserve anyone's time or money. If they reply here, it'll be the same blah blah. Stay away so you don't regret it later.

The location made it easy to reach the city's main attractions, and breakfast had plenty of fresh, delicious options. My room was spacious, clean, and equipped with what I needed to relax. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout, from the warm welcome at check-in to the helpful service. I had a smooth, enjoyable stay at the Diplomat Hotel in Astana and couldn't fault it. I'd happily return.

The bathroom smell was the main letdown. It lingered even with ventilation, and better upkeep and deep cleaning there would make the room more comfortable. Breakfast had a decent buffet, though I'd have liked more variety, fresher items, and more local and international choices. The location near key landmarks was very convenient, and the room was spacious and well furnished. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, were professional, welcoming, and ready to help. Their attentive service made the stay pleasant, and I'd stay again mainly for that and the location. With some improvement to the bathroom and breakfast, the experience could be better.

Maryam at reception was a real professional, warm and quick to help with SIM cards, transport passes, deliveries, and other issues. Her care made me feel valued. We had one small misunderstanding involving me and Booking because breakfast times weren't listed on the website at first, though that information was updated later. I hope it didn't inconvenience the reception team. We stayed five days. The hotel was calm and relaxing, and our cozy, minimalist room looked out at the Baiterek monument. Breakfast was included, with a varied buffet my family enjoyed. The morning coffee and BlackBeah were really good, and having currency exchange at the entrance was handy. For a first trip to Kazakhstan's capital, I recommend it. Many sights are within walking distance.
