Senator Hotel

The restaurant was another disappointment: the food quality was very poor, portions were small, and there were no sides. In room 408, the standard room I stayed in, there wasn’t even basic tissue paper, and the room felt much too small. I tried to raise these issues with the manager, Dariga, but she dismissed my observations and said arrogantly that their standards were perfect and nothing was wrong with the property. High prices paired with poor standards and arrogant management made the experience disheartening. Despite the hotel’s strong ratings, I’d advise readers to look closely into it before deciding to stay.

The rooms are very comfortable, though the walls are quite thin. Laundry and housekeeping were good, and the service was professional throughout. There are two excellent restaurants, and the a la carte breakfast was decent. It’s an excellent hotel in central Karaganda, probably the best in the city. Highly recommended.

Housekeeping is excellent, and the employees are friendly. The location is central, and the hotel has a meeting room, conference hall, smoking lounge, sauna, and fitness room. The fitness room is small but adequate. Breakfast was very good, though it could have offered a bit more variety.

The soundproofing is terrible. You can hear people in other rooms as if you were in a cheap hotel, including guests blasting the TV late at night or chatting in a group at 3 am when you’re trying to sleep. It makes you wish you were somewhere else. The staff are lovely, and most speak English very well. The food is very nice, but at Balkon, the best restaurant, you have to pay at the table and can’t charge it to the room. I’d have preferred a buffet breakfast, though what they serve is okay. Rooms are clean and modern, with a Smart TV and strong Wi-Fi, but the connection isn’t fast enough for YouTube sometimes. It’s the best hotel in Karaganda, despite the noise.
