Dostar Inn

The central location made it easy to get around the city, and the amenities gave the stay a bit of a luxurious feel. My room was spotless, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Doster Inn Hotel exceeded what I expected, and I’d highly recommend it for a comfortable stay.

The rooms are huge and clean, and the hotel is so nice it could pass for four stars. It’s in a handy spot, especially for going to Uzbekistan. Shared cabs leave from the entrance and cost about 1500-2000 tenge. Chyngyz at the front desk was really helpful and protective, and helped me find a taxi across the border. When I returned from Uzbekistan, the hotel was unfortunately fully booked. Chyngyz wasn’t there, but the other guy was just as sweet and did everything he could to help. Thanks to both of them, I was able to book a train back to Almaty and leave safely. I only wish they offered breakfast, even if it cost extra. Some connections with tour operators would also help, since I couldn’t really explore Shymkent.

The rooms are nice, and it’s close to the city center. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, so keep in mind that it’s a Halal hotel. Service was okay. For the location and amenities, it felt a bit pricey.

For the price, the rooms look amazing inside. They’re modern, very clean and spacious, with a luxurious feel that made it seem like a 5 star hotel. The staff were nice and spoke pretty good English. Excellent place for the money.
