Viktoriya Hotel

I stayed one night, which was enough for me. The lobby looks much nicer than the rooms, and the place has a shabby late Soviet-era look that I personally can’t stand. It also feels poorly thought out ergonomically. The light switches beside the bed are so awkward to reach that you have to get up or jump around. There wasn’t a socket by the bed or close enough for the cable either, only one across the room. The whole stay was kind of meh.

The staff were warm, kind and professional with my family, and the hotel ranks among the best I’ve stayed in across more than 45 countries. The facilities were kept spotless, and staff were quick to attend to details. We were traveling with our two-year-old daughter and needed a crib, which arrived right away despite the early hour. Breakfast was made to order and so caring and high quality that it felt like my grandmother had prepared it. Renovations were underway during our stay, and the staff helped us move to a brand new room midway through. The existing facilities and service are already excellent, and the ongoing work should make this a grand hotel. We highly recommend it to anyone needing accommodation in Uralsk, Kazakhstan. It’ll always be our favorite home away from home.

The staff are very kind, and breakfast is delicious. A good hotel for a holiday.

The hotel was undergoing renovations when I visited in June 2021, so I couldn’t stay. I’ll try it on my next visit.
