Maison Dalabua

The grounds are lovely, with tropical plants and a lotus pond. The restaurant does very nice local meals with a modern touch, and breakfast was good. The rooms are okay, nothing special. I booked a deluxe room expecting a nice view like the pictures, but all I got was an inner courtyard. I assume it's just bigger than the regular room, and that wasn't worth the extra cost to me. There was also loud drilling from construction at the house next door all day. That's not the hotel's fault, but we could hear it in the room, so the stay wasn't quiet or peaceful.

Right in the heart of Lunag Prabang, this was a lovely retreat. The food was delicious and the accommodation comfortable, and the staff made a great impression from the warm welcome onward. I loved staying here and can't wait to return. Look out for Miss Sugar, the sweetest cat, and the hotel owners, who made the stay memorable. Thank you!

The setting is spectacular, with UNESCO designated gardens and ponds. Spring rolls were amazing, and everything else on the menu was delicious too. The staff were brilliant and happy to help with anything. I've stayed in boutique hotels around the world, and this lovely oasis made my top 10. Love, love, love. Remember to tip the staff.

The room safe was the easiest we've ever used, and it was right at eye level. The hotel pickup from the railway station is well worth arranging too. When we arrived, around 1,000 passengers had got off, so the taxi queues could be a problem. Service and the concierge were first-rate, and the hotel deserves at least one more official star. Our only small reservations were the garden ponds, which were huge and rather murky. They could use clearer water and perhaps be made a little smaller to leave room for more outdoor seating. Even so, the hotel exceeded our expectations. It's an excellent choice in Luang Prabang. See my review of the hotel restaurant.
