Samailaos Residence

Staff were lovely, the front desk usually spoke great English, and breakfast was decent. I liked this part of town and would recommend the location. It's a lovely ten-minute walk into town, though a bar directly across the street blasts music after dark. My AirPods cancelled it out, but my mother said it was hard to fall asleep. My mother and I booked the Basic Double Room through Expedia without realizing it had no window. When I checked the listing again, the room details didn't mention that. We arrived pretty unhappy. There was a funky urine smell, which we first thought came from the bathroom. After trying a few things, we realized it was coming from the AC. Anyone with a mold allergy or a sensitive nose might want to reconsider.

Samailaos Residence is a cute little guesthouse that fits the fusion feel of Luang Prabang. Our room was spacious, with an attached bathroom and hot and cold water around the clock. It's just a few minutes' walk from the main street. The second-floor stairs are quite steep, so they could be tough for anyone with movement restrictions. The property is also on a slight downhill slope.

The hotel is cosy, well maintained, and very clean, with an amazing staff and a great location. It's surrounded by bars, cafés, and restaurants, so it's an easy base for exploring. The night market is only a five-minute walk away, close enough to enjoy the action but far enough for a peaceful stay.

I love this place. It's really clean and modern, the staff are friendly, and the location is pretty good. Highly recommend. If I'd known sooner, I would have booked it from the beginning.
