Saynamkhan River View

I loved sitting on the balcony over the river with Lao coffee in the morning. Saynamkhan River View is right by the Nam Khan River, with peaceful scenery, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s also an easy walk to the Night Market, Mount Phousi, and many temples, so exploring Luang Prabang was convenient. The rooms were clean, cozy, and decorated in traditional Lao style. The bed was very comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They booked tours, arranged transport, and recommended good local places to eat. Breakfast was simple but tasty, with fresh fruit, eggs, and bread. It’s a quiet, charming place in the heart of Luang Prabang with great views, and I highly recommend it. A couple of downsides: there’s no elevator if you have heavy luggage, and breakfast choices are limited. Pros: stunning river view, central location, friendly staff, and clean, comfortable rooms. Cons: no elevator and limited breakfast options.

There are river-view rooms, a nice coffee shop, and a bike rental place nearby. The location is one of the hotel’s strong points, especially if you want to be close to the night markets and Mount Phousi. From there you can take in a stunning city view and sunset 🌅.

Breakfast tasted good, and the hotel sits at the base of Phousi Hill, about a 10-minute walk from the night market, restaurants, massage, boat tours, and alms giving. The downsides outweighed that for us. The rooms were old, small, and not very comfortable. The portions at breakfast were tiny, so my wife and I were still hungry when we left. The river view also faces the road, bringing traffic noise, dust, and fumes. Our main-floor room was very loud, and we were woken several times by traffic or guests in the halls. The view wasn’t great: the main-floor balcony was too noisy to sit on comfortably, while the second floor only had a small window. Having to leave the key whenever you go out didn’t feel very secure, and desk staff weren’t always there when we needed to come or go. I wouldn’t recommend it or stay again. We initially booked three nights and cancelled after the first.

The rooms have a rustic feel and a good balcony view, and the price was economical. Great service and an excellent location too. I loved this hotel and will be back.
