Villa Thavisouk Legend - Luang Prabang

The rooms are spacious, the location is great, and the bed and pillow were comfortable. Breakfast was great too, with eggs, toast, coffee, orange juice and fruit. All at a great price. Highly recommend!

We stayed four nights in a room with two single beds. The room and bathroom were small, old and dirty. It was 7 degrees at night, so I asked for a blanket and for the room to be cleaned. Both requests were refused.

The staff speak English well and were very kind and helpful. The location is great, close to the night market and with lots of local restaurants on the same street. I booked a private standard room for $20, which felt expensive compared with other guesthouses I’d stayed in. The room was very small, looked more run-down than in the photos, and had that typical Laos building feel. I didn’t eat the breakfast, even though it looked good, because I went out for local food instead. They provided towels, shampoo and soap, which was nice. Another reviewer mentioned a bad sewage smell in the toilet, and I agree, it was really awful. They confirmed the bedsheets had been changed, but there were stains on them. I tried wiping one to check whether it was fresh. I also had a bad night because of the strong cigarette smell. Smoking is allowed in the lobby, and the smoke drifted up to the first floor. This was the first guesthouse I’d stayed in without an extra lock on the inside. Twice at midnight someone mistakenly tried their key in my door. It wasn’t the guesthouse’s fault, but it made me worry about not having an inside lock, since every other guesthouse I’d stayed in had one. The air conditioner was right above the bed, made noise and dripped water. It didn’t work well, so I wouldn’t stay here in the hot season. In February, the air conditioner and fan were okay for one night. They don’t have a luggage room, so your bag just stays with reception.

Kim, the receptionist, was a lovely and kind woman, always willing to help whenever we needed it. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The room was nice and clean, with all the amenities we needed, and tours and trips were booked easily and efficiently. We’d definitely recommend staying here.
