BKC Villa

We were 13 people traveling with Intrepid Travel, and they arranged our stay here. It worked out really well: the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the place was quiet. Service was good, and breakfast was simple but enough.

Breakfast was good and dinner was just okay. The rooms are basic, and because the pipes were damaged, the water kept cutting out. We were without water for most of our stay.

It's near the slow boat terminal, but the room price felt too high. Other places we stayed in Laos were similar and cost less. This one also felt damper and less pleasant than the others, for lack of a better word.

We were lucky that someone met us off the slow boat with a sign and drove us here, because Google's directions were wrong. The hosts were very nice, and the buffet breakfast was superb. I loved the old French-colonial architecture and carved wood, something you don't see anymore. The wooden carved queen bed was luxurious, and the little balcony just outside my door was quaint. The river was across from the elephant sanctuary, but I didn't see any elephants. Town was only a two-minute walk away, even though Google said the return trip would take 53 minutes.
