The room was awful, possibly the worst I’ve stayed in. It was dusty and dirty, and calling it basic would be an understatement. There was hot water in the morning and some in the evening. We paid $14 for two people. They promised transport back to the pier, then ignored us the next day. It was walkable, so that part wasn’t a problem. It felt like they just wanted to get us into a room when we arrived at the pier and didn’t care after that.

Bugs in my pancake were the worst part. It tasted sour, so I couldn’t eat it. They approach you at the slow boat pier and try to charge 250k for the room plus 50k for breakfast, which is a rip off. The room itself is shabby, with just one plug socket high on the wall. The bathroom had mould everywhere and nowhere to hang a towel.

Fine for budget travelers if you can talk the price down to at least 150/100k. Paying 250 or even 200 is definitely too much for a room like this.

The staff were kind, and it’s only a 3 min walk to the pier. We paid 100,000 kip each, about $6 AUD each. The room was mouldy and had bugs everywhere, even in the bed, though we managed for one night. We hadn’t booked anything after the first leg of the slow boat, so we agreed to stay when a lady held a sign right in our faces as we got off. It was very average, but cheap.

Our room was clean and really comfortable, with both air con and a fan. The owner was lovely and helpful, caught our attention as we got off the slow boat, and offered a good price. They also offered breakfast and lunch for a small fee to take with us on the boat the next day. A really welcoming first night in Laos.
