The palace itself is a big part of the appeal, and at around $50-60 USD/night it felt like an incredible deal. We stayed in a spacious second-floor junior suite, with doors out to a veranda facing the street and another overlooking the pool and river. The building is beautiful, and the beds were comfortable. It was renovated in late 2024 (?) after being converted from a former Laotian Prince’s Palace some years earlier. The staff at reception were attentive, friendly, and spoke English fairly well. Breakfast came with lots of choices, though the food was nothing special, and dinner in the restaurant was average. They apparently don’t have a license for spirits or wine, so beer is the only alcohol available. There are still some things to sort out. The pool has few loungers, and the wooden ones have no pads. The umbrellas tend to blow over, despite being on wheeled metal bases weighted with 3-4 boulders. The pretty first-floor veranda seating is uncomfortable, and the grand second- and third-floor verandas on the pool and river side have no seating at all. They feel like wasted space. Even with those issues, staying in a palace is a special experience, and I’d still say it’s a must stay.

After long days exploring southern Laos, the room felt like a real place to recharge. It was spacious, very clean, and had comfortable beds, modern amenities, and a spotless bathroom. The people working there were warm and attentive, always ready with a smile and quick help for recommendations, transport, or anything else we needed. Breakfast was one of the best we had in the region, with fresh fruit, pastries, eggs made to order, Korean and Western food, and good coffee. It’s right by the river, has a relaxing feel, and offers a lot for the price. From check-in through check-out, our stay was outstanding. Champa Palace Hotel is hands down the best place to stay in Pakse. Highly recommended, you won’t regret it.

After arriving groggy from the night bus in the early morning, I got a warm welcome, an early check-in, and a free upgrade. I’m now having ginger chicken for breakfast, and the whole buffet looks so good I couldn’t pick anything else. The pool looks scenic too, can’t wait to try it. Go here when you’re in Paksi, it’s worth the few extra bucks.

The location worked really well for us, just a short walk from cafés and restaurants. There’s also a lovely walkway to the Love Bridge, especially around sunset. Our four nights here were wonderful. The rooms were spotless, had air conditioning, and the in-room service was excellent. Staff were attentive and professional, and breakfast had plenty of delicious Asian and western choices. A lot of the older reviews seem to be from before the renovation, so I don’t think the current rating reflects how nice the hotel is now. It’s a great choice for a visit to Pakse.

For 50€ a night, we got a level of luxury that would be hard to find anywhere else. We stayed a week and loved it. The place is a former palace, and you can tell: the layout can be a little confusing, but there are majestic columns, fountains, gold details, high-quality furniture, and excellent service. The staff were polite and helpful, and most spoke English. Our Champa Premium Twin room was spacious and elegant, with modern furniture, a luxury bathroom with bath, desk, big safe, wardrobe, lounge chair, really good AC, kettle, fridge, and free coffee, tea, water, toothbrush, comb, and vanity kit. It also came with bathrobes and slippers, and was cleaned every day. The pool was amazing and always clean, though there are only 3 sun loungers. We managed to get 2 each day. There’s a small, well-equipped gym on the top floor, but it lacks basic cleaning supplies like paper and disinfectant. The main downside is the windows. Most rooms have just one tiny one, and it doesn’t even look directly outside. It’s a shame since the hotel has the best views in town. The lack of windows does make the facade feel more palace-like, and you can step onto the huge shared balcony to enjoy the view. Our room had two exits on opposite sides. Room doors aren’t fully sealed, so bugs can get in, and corridor noise carries clearly. During strong wind, the corridor doors kept slamming all night and couldn’t be closed.
