The hosts were kind and the bed was okay, but the bathroom was very humid with lots of mold on the walls, and the tap didn't work. It cost 100k for the night, which is a good price. I stayed one night, then moved to another guesthouse where the quality was really better for the same price.

The rooftop view was lovely at sunrise and sunset, and the showers were hot, which isn't always the case in Laos. The rooms were clean too. We were glad we followed the advice we found in online reviews and came to Viphaphone Hotel. The managers welcomed us right away and shared tips and general information about town. The rest of the staff were helpful and polite. Pick up some food at the market early in the morning and enjoy it upstairs.

The rooms are up to the standards in Phôngsaly, and I recommend this guesthouse. Service is very good, with the boys at reception kind and attentive to customers' needs. The room equipment is old and should be checked before check-in: water pressure was very low in every bathroom, and the heaters weren't working properly. The windows don't shut well, so the rooms get very, very cold at night. I was there in 12/2022.

The hotel is a strange place, a remnant of 1960 communist architecture, but it's very clean. The owners are falangs themselves and very helpful, with a sense of what guests in this remote area need. The rooftop terrace is an adventure on its own, and the views at sunset and sunrise are spectacular!
