Xieng Khouang hotel

The price is reasonable, and it's about 6 km from the airport.

The room was spacious, with two twin beds and a big armoire, and the bathroom was fairly clean, though it could use some tidying. The hot shower was a real treat on the rainy night we stayed. But the bedding wasn't good: they provided only one sheet, which had a cigarette burn, and one comforter was marked with brown stains. The whole hotel smelled of cigarette smoke, and I saw a group of men smoking as they came down the stairs, so apparently smoking indoors is allowed here. We were offered a fourth-floor room, but the elevator was broken, and there was very little lighting on the stairs between floors. The place looked beautiful from the front desk and is in a convenient location, but it needs a lot more cleaning.

I loved staying here. The hotel is in the centre of Xiengkhouang' province, in Xiengkhouang, with friendly staff and well-fitted rooms. I liked the wooden bench by the window overlooking the view. WiFi is free, breakfast is affordable, and the setting feels safe, with access to public transport. I'd definitely recommend it, including to families.

We stayed here during a road trip from Luang Prabang, and it was easy to find even at 2 in the morning. It's within walking distance of the bus stop. The hotel is big, the rooms are really clean, and the bed is comfy. There's a large hot water tank in the bathroom, and they serve Vietnamese coffee at breakfast.
