We paid 300k kip a night, or 400k for the cute attic room, and it felt like great value. The room and bed were clean and comfortable, nothing fancy. Amphai is right among the good restaurants and hiking trails, but nights were still quiet. WiFi was fast, too. Most of the staff speak Lao, so Google Translate could help if you need something extra. We had a great stay.
The rooms were spacious, drinking water was free, and the location worked well. We stayed three nights and found it good value. The bed was a little hard, and the bathroom could use a thorough clean. :)
We spent three nights here for under 370k. The rooms are large, and you can get one with two beds if you want. There's a private bathroom, AC, and free water. The owner speaks a little English. Clean and comfortable.
Just one night for me, but it was a comfortable, clean stay with a big bed. It's near the bridge and where lots of hiking trails begin.
I was trying to check out several guesthouses, so I went into the restaurant outside with the “Amphai Guesthouse” sign and asked about a room. The girl there didn't speak English, so I used Google Translate. When I asked if there was a guesthouse, she said no, but couldn't explain the sign despite my trying to clarify. I later walked past the main building and couldn't find a reception or anyone around. Maybe the business has closed, or the owner has other, much larger businesses to look after.
