Aaron Vientiane Hotel

The roof had a really nice view, and I barely heard traffic or other guests. The AC worked well, and everything was clean and worked as expected. The photos make the rooms look much nicer than they are, probably because they were taken when the hotel was new and it's getting a bit old now. They let me check in quite late, and the location was easy to reach. The night market and night food market are close, and it's easy to walk around the city to shops and restaurants.

The mattress was okay, and the location is handy with nice restaurants nearby. Still, the place felt old-fashioned, the room didn't match the booking pictures, and the bathroom wasn't clean. Some things were broken too. I wouldn't recommend staying there.

I'm still staying here, and this is honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The toilet, sink, kettle, and other things in the room are broken, and the faucets leak badly. There's a strong sewage smell. Smoking is allowed in the rooms and hallways, so cigarette smoke is constantly overwhelming. The carpeted hallways look like they haven't been properly cleaned in years, with trash scattered around. I sincerely urge future guests to avoid this place.

The bed was comfortable enough, and we had a lovely, roomy balcony, but there were no chairs to sit outside. The pool looked poorly maintained, with dirty dishes on the tables and ashtrays full of cigarette butts. The gym was grimy, had no air conditioning, and had broken equipment. Health and safety didn't seem to matter. Breakfast was disgusting. The freshly cooked eggs were so greasy they slid off the plate, and buffet food wasn't replenished even though service still had two hours to go. Staff seemed more interested in their phones and smoking in a corner than in guests. Don't be fooled by the facade. The entrance and lobby look opulent, but beyond them things were shabby. The hallways smelled of cigarette smoke, despite the policy in the key card sleeve, and didn't look vacuumed in a while. The no-pet policy was ignored too, with a dog barking on our floor. The hotel doesn't deserve its three-star rating or $98 CAD per night. The sleeve also told guests in bold to keep valuables in the safe. When I asked at reception where it was, they brought one to the room about 30 minutes later. Hard to feel secure about a safe that can be carried between rooms. The fridge wasn't cooling, so the cold water I'd put in it had warmed up. The front desk suggested swapping those bottles for cold ones from their lobby fridge.
