The reception staff were kind, and breakfast was a good buffet. The rooms were old but okay at first, but I wouldn’t spend my money here again. We paid $50 each for two “superior” rooms, and neither felt superior. The mattress was hard as a brick, so I ended up using the chair cushions. Both bathrooms had brown silicone, broken ceilings and tiles, and broken sinks. Using the sink flooded each bathroom. At 7am, cleaning staff woke us by shouting in the corridor for an hour. The next day they knocked on our doors just five minutes after we returned from breakfast, saying they wanted to clean. We said we weren’t ready and asked them not to knock on my mother’s door, but they did, and she was so bothered that she left the room early. Another staff member stood outside our door, making us feel rushed. The breakfast restaurant staff didn’t greet or speak to anyone, not even my Lao wife. I’ve stayed in guesthouses in Laos for half the price and had much better service and nicer rooms.
