DoubleTree by Hilton Vientiane

I slept better here than I ever have. The bed, pillows, and linens were unbelievably comfortable. The hotel felt modern, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, with roomy balcony rooms and a great shower. You get a drink when you arrive while your bags are taken up. Breakfast had a huge range of choices, and the service there and at the evening reception was excellent. The pool area was clean, and the fitness center had modern equipment and a good selection. A standout stay.

I was visiting a friend at DoubleTree Vientiane, not staying at the hotel myself, and still got such kind, professional treatment. Just, the Reception Manager, deserves special thanks for the great hospitality and for welcoming and helping people at reception so thoughtfully. It really brightened my day. DoubleTree Vientiane will be my first choice next time I stay in Vientiane.

The lounge was a highlight, with little snacks through the day and evening cocktails. Check-in went smoothly, and I was upgraded from a standard room to a balcony executive room with a nice view of the city and river. The room itself was clean and spacious, had lots of amenities and universal outlets, and even came with a welcome fruit basket and cookies. Breakfast had a wide range of fresh, tasty options, and the staff were attentive. The hotel is well placed for walking to sights and places to eat. I had a short business stay in Laos and really enjoyed it. I can't think of anything to improve and would come back.

Lemon from Careline made our anniversary memorable with a lovely dessert and was resourceful throughout. Pasan in the executive lounge gave us useful Laos travel tips, and Kira and Junior helped with train tickets and night market recommendations. We appreciated them. The hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the airport. Use the LOCA ride share app. Check-in was quick and easy, and Kira at the front desk spoke great English and was helpful. As Diamond members, we got a balcony room on the 7th floor. The property opened in Sept 2024 and still feels new. It's also the first Hilton-branded hotel in Laos. The warm chocolate chip cookies were a nice welcome after three weeks away from the US. We also got fruit and rice crackers in the room, plus two free water bottles that were replenished daily. There was coffee, but only two tea choices, English Breakfast and Jasmine Green. A caffeine-free option would be a nice addition. Wi-Fi was reliable and the room was comfortable. The AC worked well most of the time, though one night we had an engineer check it because the thermostat adjusted itself. The rooftop pool on the 8th floor is small, with only four lounge chairs. More seating would help, since one family can take it all. The jacuzzi could be a bit warmer. One evening the pool and executive lounge closed early for a Valentine’s event. Guests should be told in advance, such as when booking, rather than that day. We liked the breakfast variety, about 60% Eastern and 40% Western, and enjoyed the rotation over three mornings. More authentic Laotian dishes would be welcome. Clearing tables at the buffet needs attention: used plates piled up on several mornings. Service was much more attentive on Monday, when supervisors or managers seemed to be around. On Saturday's breakfast, the chef was teaching a trainee to fry eggs. Friday night had live music for Valentine’s Day. It was lively but loud, even on the seventh floor, and quieter sound levels would help guests who need rest. The stay was very pleasant overall at this modern hotel. It's interesting to see a newly built DoubleTree positioned as a five-star hotel here, compared with many US locations that are typically four-star and often conversions! Thank you very much
