WH Hotel

After I was robbed in the city, I needed a safe place while I coordinated with the embassy and local authorities. Instead, management made me leave the premises, showing no regard for my safety or well-being. The staff were abrasive and unprofessional throughout. This was easily the most distressing hospitality experience I’ve had. 👎👎👎👎👎

The location is central, so it’s easy to get wherever you need to go, and the place is relatively clean. Breakfast and lunch were both nice and delicious. The rooms and furniture are old, though, and there’s just one power outlet in the room, which makes charging devices difficult. Room service is slow and can take a few hours to make up the room.

For $60 a night, I didn’t feel the services were worth the price. The air conditioning was poor, and the toilet needed more attention. There were no personal care items like toothbrushes, shaving paste, a comb, or cotton swabs, and no bathroom slippers. The fridge had no water, and water cost much more than at local markets. There was a kettle but no coffee, tea, or sugar in the minibar. Breakfast was $15.

They upgraded us to a junior suite without us asking, and breakfast, which was included, was tasty. It’s a great Hamra location, within walking distance of everything, while still quiet enough to sleep well. The price is reasonable for what it is. Our only gripe was a scuff mark or two on the room walls. Otherwise, it was comfortable and well appointed. We’d definitely stay again.
