Castel Mare Hotel & Resort

It’s a nice-looking place, but it really needs maintenance and better management. The kids’ pool should be separate from the adult pool. By 4 pm, the pool is super dirty from all the kids peeing in it. I got skin irritation, and my six-year-old had an eye infection. It’s ridiculous. There were wires running across the chalet walls, no microwave, and the bed seats and beds were extremely uncomfortable. The TV was tiny, ancient, and not even smart. The shower had a curtain instead of a glass door. The elevators are dangerous: they suddenly close, as if the sensors aren’t working. There are unbearable numbers of mosquitoes, and the empty land below the balcony is full of trash. With proper management and a bit of investment, this could be one of the best spots in the area. It’s sad to see it like this.

Our days near the ski slopes were thrilling, and we came back each night to comfortable bedrooms and breathtaking mountain views. The staff were attentive and took care of everything we needed. We spent evenings around the dining table enjoying the food and each other’s company, and the well-equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. The chalet had a spacious living area with plush furnishings and tasteful decor, plus a fireplace that made us want to settle in with a warm drink and look out at the pristine winter scenery. We also relaxed in the outdoor hot tub under the stars. With snow-covered peaks all around and a charming, rustic feel, the stay was magical. Those memories will keep warming our hearts.

I only used the pool. The view was amazing, the food decent, and the location lovely.

The location is lovely, and the hotel restaurant over the bridge nearest the sea was good. The mattress was comfortable too. It’s an amazing spot for a wedding, but this place really needs a full refurbishment. I was surprised by its almost four-star average rating. I stayed with family and friends, and almost every room had something wrong. The air conditioning was weak, too noisy, or stopped working after power cuts. Floors in most rooms were dated and peeling in places, and our TV cabinet looked ready to fall off the wall. The bathroom didn’t feel very clean. Breakfast was okay, though the coffee needs work. The gym also closes at certain times.
