InterContinental Mzaar (Mountain Resort & Spa)

Mzaar is a place that really stands apart. The indoor pool was exceptional, and the spa was great too. After skiing, try a reflexology session, it made a real impression on me. You can take the ski lift straight from the hotel. The people made the stay especially memorable. Staff were welcoming and seemed genuinely glad to help, and check-in was easy. My room was neat and tidy, typical of an InterContinental, but I felt the GM and staff at Mzaar raised the bar even further. Ask for George at the front desk if you want a professional, genuine, and generous person to talk with. And if you're lucky enough to get Mariam on the phone from your room, her energy is like a sunrise. I'd give the stay six stars if I could.

The snowy mountain view from our room was stunning, and the reception was excellent when we arrived by taxi from Beirut. It's a beautiful, calm hotel with a lovely winter atmosphere. The downside is how isolated it feels. There isn't much to do, no outdoor seating or snack choices, and just one restaurant open 24/7 with the same menu. The first day dragged by quietly. We had perfect skiing weather on day two, which was great, but the evening felt warm and boring again, with no activities or even simple snacks.

There's plenty for families to do here, including arcades, bowling, a heated pool, a kids' area, and lots of shopping. The mountain views are beautiful, and the atmosphere is lively and warm. Food is fresh, tasty, and nicely presented, with friendly, attentive service even when it's busy. Whether you come after skiing or spend the day in Mzaar, IC Mzaar has something for all ages. It's a great family destination for enjoying the full Mzaar experience. Highly recommended!

The welcome note signed by Mr. Nadim Bawab said, “May all who enter as Guests leave as Friends.” My stay felt like the opposite. At check-in, we were told we'd been “upgraded three times,” but the room smelled strongly of sewage as soon as we opened the door. When I complained, a staff member called it “perfume,” which felt insulting and unprofessional. Instead of fixing the problem, they moved me from room to room. It took repeated complaints and pressure from me to get a resolution, and the disruption spoiled what should have been a relaxing stay. The broader handling was disappointing too: confusion over the booking, no clear itinerary communication, misinformation at reception, a cake issue that I had to pay to resolve, and a Skidoo “arrangement” that amounted to being directed to another floor. These felt like signs of systemic mismanagement, not isolated mistakes. What bothered me most was that Mr. Bawab never came to speak with me, despite the seriousness of the problem and his personal welcome note. A printed letter isn't leadership, and a fruit basket on the last day isn't customer service. Hospitality needs action. If this is professionalism under his management, serious internal reflection is needed. I'll be escalating the matter to InterContinental headquarters and documenting my experience on hospitality platforms. A luxury hotel is defined by how it handles failure.
