The beach was fantastic, and we nearly had it to ourselves. Getting there means taking about 290 steps down the hillside, with a few steep sections, so we took our time on the way. There are plenty of shady spots around the house too. Since the photos were taken, the property has been renovated: each bedroom now has its own full bathroom, and the pool area has a lovely cabana and deck with seats for eight. We loved the house above the Caribbean. It’s a great fit for a family or three couples, and the staff were amazing. They cooked meals from scratch every day. The bedrooms each have a nice air conditioner, though we didn’t always need it because the rooms are screened in rather than fitted with glass windows. Stray dogs came around and barked at all hours most nights, so light sleepers may want earplugs. Getting there took about 75 minutes from the main international airport. Google Maps made it look close, but it isn’t, and the two-lane roads twist, turn, and change elevation quickly. We were glad we didn’t rent a car. Bring plenty of cash: Lenny, the excellent driver who works with the house, takes cash only. The airport ride cost $200 USD each way for six people. Christy also bought some initial provisions and food for us, which came to over $700. Lenny’s excursions, including a grocery-store trip about 25 minutes away, also required cash. We went to the ATM twice and still ran low.

I’ve already booked my third visit for next year, after spending two weeks here again. Having nobody else around made the beautiful, breathtaking surroundings so relaxing, a real break from my usually busy life. I even got through a book. My holiday buddies made it great fun too, and we had some lovely days out. Christie, the housekeeper, helps with everything and really does her best to make your stay.

There’s a secluded beach and a bay below this villa, tucked into the hills outside Anse La Raye. It was utterly peaceful and serene.

The staff and food were the best on the island, and the views are unbelievable. It felt like an oasis away from everyday life, with a great vantage point for relaxing or exploring the island.

A fully staffed villa with a pool and outrageous views. One of the most unique places to stay on St Lucia.
