Getting around was the main difficulty. Buses up the hill were unreliable, and after waiting over 30 minutes with no luck, I took a taxi back for XCD25. If you're planning to travel around a lot, allow for those extra transport costs. The guesthouse itself was pleasant and decent. It's clean and quiet, with a fan in the room, and has a nice view of Castries from the hilltop. The host is friendly and offers airport pick-up for XCD50, or a ferry terminal drop-off for another XCD50. Air conditioning costs an extra XCD60 for a two-night stay.

The guesthouse is far from town, so you'll need a taxi or rental car to get there. The owner was rude and seemed to care only about money, not guests. Her dogs barked from morning till night, and she didn't stop them. It kept guests from sleeping. Sometimes she'd use her own key to come into your room and look around, which is forbidden.

After a chaotic day when my rental car was broken into and my belongings were stolen, the rental company brought me to Hilltop View late. Anne Husbands was incredibly kind. She found me a travel toothbrush, a small tube of toothpaste, a charging block for my phone, bottled water, and a delicious dinner. We also used her phone to arrange a bird guide for the next morning, since I no longer had a car. I was hardly there in daylight, so I can't really say how the view was.

My mom and her husband stayed at this guesthouse last month and had a wonderful time. She said the owner was pleasant, very nice, and accommodating. They had everything they needed, and the owner went above and beyond to make their stay enjoyable.
