Ladera Resort - Adults Only

The dining room views are hard to beat, and the service at Ladera was top notch, friendly, attentive, and professional. We had a great brunch, with lots of delicious, well-prepared dishes to choose from. A stop here is a must when visiting the island.

The open wall made the stay feel romantic, exciting, and simply amazing. We'd read about mosquitoes since most units have a fully open wall, but we only got a few bites. Turndown staff put out bug repellent each evening, there's large netting over the bed, and keeping most lights off at night helps. You could also consider buying a $45 ThermoCell on Amazon. We spent four relaxing days reconnecting after the busy holidays for our 43rd anniversary. We're a M/F couple, and the moment we entered the resort we got an immediate ‘White Lotus’ season 3 vibe. The reception and concierge team, Caroline, Abigail, Ariela, took care of anything and everything. We paid extra for the Holiday Suite and had a two-level room with a large private heated pool. Views of both Pitons and Sugar Beach bay below, with sailboats and yachts, gave us our sunrises and sunsets. A nonstop flight from ATL was a bonus.

We booked through a travel agent who arranged for someone to meet us at the St Lucia airport and speed us through immigration and customs. A chauffeur then drove us to the resort in a Lexus; the trip takes 18 minutes. If you're renting a car, remember they drive on the left. The weather in March was mid 80’s during the day and mid 70’s at night, with rain most nights. We stayed in a Heritage suite with a large pool and hot tub. Both the suite and restaurant have spectacular views. We tried breakfast room service, which I recommend if your wife likes to sleep in. Vianney arrived at 7:30 with an awesome breakfast. The staff, including Ariela, Caroline, Vianney, and Hilarios, quickly felt like friends. We're already considering coming back next March. The staff are very friendly, the WiFi worked great, and my Cisco VPN connected fine. Our suite has 110v adapters. Cover any food you leave out because the birds aren't shy. Ladera is the kind of resort you visit and know you'll return to.

The views were incredible, and it was nice having a personal hot tub, but the rooms felt dated and needed refurbishing and updating. The grounds were really good with a nice nature feel, though the fish ponds needed cleaning. Service was a problem. I had to ask several times for water. When we arrived, they sprayed for bugs, and the fumes wafted through the suite and choked us. They had neatly sealed the notice of this in an envelope. Breakfast was good, but I wasn't impressed by the rest of the restaurant and would look for other options. It's a shame, given the unreal view. For the price, it wasn't worth it to me. I'd go to Sugar Beach next time, even though it doesn't have the same view.
