Savannes Bay Garden Inn

The staff were nice, and the property was clean. The pool was clean too, but every lounge chair was damaged. Our bed sagged in the middle, and the internet was unreliable. The owner's wife was more welcoming, while he came across as unwelcoming. It felt like the hotel had become just a business to him.

The garden and gazebo where I got married were lovely, but the reception area was a real letdown. It was dirty, and we couldn't use the pool, something they hadn't explained when I booked. About 40 minutes before the reception ended, the power went out. I never saw the owners come by to apologize or offer any compensation. I also saw the rooms inside the big house, and they were disappointing. The whole thing felt badly managed, like all they wanted was the money. I had my wedding and reception at Savannes Bay Garden inn in June this year, and I can only give it one star.

The view is great, and the yard is really well kept. I spent most of my time by the pool and didn't go into the main building. I'd definitely recommend it for that lovely, refreshing view.

We left on Oct 21st, four days before the end of our Oct 17th - Oct 24th booking. Our expectations weren't met, and we were concerned for our family's safety. This was the worst experience I've had at a property. I travel a lot, and I've never had an owner or manager seem so unwelcoming, unprofessional, and threatening. It felt like he cared only about how much money he could take from us. The power kept going out in the evenings. We were there for a wedding, and during the reception we sat in the dark for hours. The owner did nothing to help, sitting on the porch drinking beer with his feet up. We later learned they were supposed to buy a generator before we arrived but hadn't. When we told him we were leaving early and asked for a refund, he threatened our group, said we'd damaged things, and refused to refund us. We hadn't damaged anything. A lot was already damaged or poorly maintained when we arrived, and it felt like he was looking for an excuse to keep our money. Several things advertised online weren't available as described. There was a bar area, but nobody working there and nothing to serve, so we had to buy groceries and coal to use. Half the stoves in our rooms didn't work because there was no propane, and they didn't replace it. There was no front desk or check-in area, and it was hard to find anyone when we needed help. Nobody came to clean our rooms, even though daily housekeeping was advertised as included in the rate. Then they charged us for not cleaning when we checked out early. There was no laundry service either, just a small washing machine that barely worked in a dark, smelly room, with no dryer or detergent. The nearest beach was over a 15 minute drive away, or about an hour's walk according to Google Maps. The pool was never cleaned, with lots of bugs in it, a chipping floor, and some slimy patches. On Friday, Oct 18th, we couldn't use it because it had been rented out for hours to school kids' swimming lessons. Nobody told us, so we waited around for about four hours. Our room #18 had no TV, and some other rooms in our group had TVs with no channels, even though cable TV was advertised. We all spent a lot on this trip, and it was frustrating and disappointing. DO NOT STAY HERE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY!
