Ahu Bay

The beachside setting is gorgeous, and the hotel has a lovely private, boutique feel. Our room was beautiful, spotless and had everything we needed. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. The service was fantastic from arrival right through to departure. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone.

The people at Ahu Bay made our ten-day stay feel personal and unforgettable. Everyone was warm, attentive and genuine, and such a pleasure to talk to. Each morning they asked what we might like for dinner, then served creative, beautifully presented food in the evening, often made to suit our preferences. Every request we had was handled with ease and enthusiasm. We also loved the beach. The sea can get wild, but Supun, the hotel’s lifeguard, was calm and professional, so we felt safe and could relax. The sound of the ocean, the scents on the sea breeze and the flavours of the food all made the place a treat for the senses. The photos that led us to book Ahu Bay really are beautiful and show the hotel accurately, though they can’t capture the rest of the experience. We arrived with high expectations, and they were exceeded in every way. It’s a lovely mix of luxury, nature and human warmth. We left with wonderful memories and a strong wish to return.

The staff are what make this place stand out. Their kindness and attentive professionalism were stellar, and every interaction was a pleasure. We’ve travelled all over and can’t recommend Ahu Bay highly enough. We’d gladly return, and are so pleased we booked five nights. The whole team of Stars made our stay wonderful. The sea can vary in strength, so watch for sets of waves arriving after a calm spell. Having an attentive lifeguard there is a real bonus. I also had two massages with Amanda in the spa, both exceptional and a real treat. The resort is tucked into a quiet village, away from the busy main routes. The setting and decor are stunning, and the food is top-notch and thoughtfully presented. After finishing our trip around Sri Lanka, Ahu Bay was by far the best accommodation we experienced, in every way.

Though the resort was almost fully booked, it still felt like we had our own quiet and space. The property has a calming atmosphere, almost like a private villa. We booked it as a birthday present for my girlfriend, and the staff made us feel so welcome. They were friendly and attentive, making everything easy, and even put out balloons and a birthday cake. We can’t recommend Ahu Bay enough.
