Raja Beach Hotel

Stephen and his wife welcomed us warmly, made a lovely breakfast, and helped us out when we left the Balapitiya. Their place is right by a wonderful beach, with plenty to see and do nearby. The natural pool 500m down the beach is especially good for families with smaller kids. We stayed one night and found it quiet, with very good value for money. I’d definitely recommend it. The only thing that could have gone more smoothly was check-in. They could have waited until our bags were in the room and we’d paid the driver.

The food was superb and home cooked. My partner and I tried several dishes, and the spicy cuttlefish curry was especially good. The restaurant and bar prices are very reasonable compared with nearby places. We stayed seven nights at Raja Beach, and I’ll return whenever I visit Sri Lanka. The garden backs right onto the amazing beach, and the whole place is beautiful, tranquil, and relaxing. The rooms are huge, clean, and lovely. Steffen and his wife are fantastic hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The manager, Parle, was also amazing, helpful, and had a great sense of humour. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

With only 8 rooms, it never felt crowded. The family running the place speaks both German and English. Our room was perfect, and the bathroom was a dream, with a bathtub and a separate shower. It’s right on the beach, with a large garden of its own and a bar in the corner. We could order all our meals, and the Hamburger was the best we’ve ever had.

The property is right by the beach, and our room was clean and tidy. Stephen and his wife were extremely kind and helpful. They understood our situation and did as much as they could to help. You can book this place without thinking twice.
