Madampe House by Tree

Madampe House was a great family stay for our six. We especially enjoyed the pool and having breakfast outdoors. Breakfast was very good, with a different menu each day, and the meals we requested were extremely tasty. The rooms were spacious, all had AC, and the en-suite bathrooms were great. Two were open-air, which turned out not to be a problem. The open layout takes some getting used to, though, and the ground-floor living room can get hot. I’d highly recommend it.

The house felt like a retreat, with an immaculate, lush garden and a pool the kids loved. Jayantha and his team were so hospitable, and the two ladies who cooked for us made amazing food. We stayed with family in June 2024. Breakfast cost extra and there was something different every day; other meals were extra too, but well worth it. They even did our laundry. The en-suite outdoor bathrooms were beautiful, though we needed time to get used to them. The main drawback was the lack of doors at the entrances, just blinds, so downstairs stayed hot and humid. There was no AC on that floor, only ceiling fans. With some folding doors and downstairs AC, I would have given five stars. The bedrooms do have AC and ceiling fans.

We had an excellent week here with our toddler and newborn. It’s a dreamy, quiet, authentic lakeside spot, surrounded by lush greenery, with a gorgeous pool and lovely amenities. The food was delicious, the service outstanding, and Jayantha is a superb host.

A cozy place to relax, whether for a regular weekend or a longer stay. The hosts are friendly and help with whatever you need to make your holiday comfortable. The kitchen can cater to any preference. It's one of the few places in Sri Lanka with a truly high rating, and I recommend it for a restful break.
