Kandy Victoria Eco Resort

The view was incredible and the room was lovely, but the service was terrible. We arrived two hours after check-in time and were told to wait 45 minutes. We didn't get into our room until three hours later, after they had kicked out the people who were already in it. The manager lied to us several times about when it would be ready. Our lunch was delayed too, with each item arriving at the one-hour, two-hour and three-hour marks. I assume that was to keep us busy. They offered no compensation, then charged us twice the amount shown on the website because we “had two adults.” If you're a foreigner, steer clear.

Meals were extremely tasty, every one a delight. Our room was high quality and spotless, with a peaceful feel that made it easy to unwind. The view was breathtaking, a lovely place to take in nature and relax. Staff were superb, friendly, attentive and always ready to help with a smile. I'd definitely come back, and highly recommend it for comfort, quiet and great service.

We couldn't use the terrace bathtub because the hot water tank was too small to fill it with warm water. The Airbnb itself was beautiful, though, with an amazing view. Getting there isn't easy, and even using the host's suggested route, our driver's car was damaged. Taking a trip with the tuk-tuk driver Nalaka was the highlight of our stay. We'd highly recommend it.

The rooms were disappointing, and the staff weren't helpful. The TV didn't work, the food portions were tiny, and the service was poor. Getting to the resort was hard too, with a very bad, dangerous road and a steep climb up the mountain. For what they charge, it felt like a complete scam and wasn't worth the money. There are much better choices in Kandy. Avoid this resort and save your money.
