The staff were welcoming and very friendly, and the surroundings were quiet with a beautiful sea view. Don’t hesitate to visit, it’s worth it. We had our annual dayouting at shangrela beach resort, Ambalangoda and had a great time. The beach is right in front, and you can bathe there safely. The pool was clean and well maintained, and we enjoyed it too. It’s a beautiful, calm setting, with amazing food and super friendly, helpful staff. Convenient parking is available. Highly recommended.

The property feels peaceful, with clean surroundings and a lovely mix of nature and comfort. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well looked after, and the food was excellent, with generous portions and great flavour. From arrival, the staff made me feel welcome and cared for. Their service was warm and professional, always with a smile, and you can see the effort they put into the cleanliness and guest experience. Shangrela Beach Resort by ARK was one of my best stays in Sri Lanka. A calm, well-managed place I’d happily visit again.

The pool water was muddy, and we had to ask the staff to clean it after we’d already checked in. There was rubbish on the way to the rooms, and nothing seemed to have been cleaned. Our room had poor lighting and a musty smell. There was a kettle but not one plug socket, and when we raised that, they brought us an extension cord. The bathrooms had no water, and only when we tried to use them did staff tell us there was none. The place seemed to have no rules, and all these problems ruined our whole day. They also refused to return the advance payment despite the many issues. The worst experience of my life.
