Monaara Leisure - Anuradhapura

The paddy fields around the property are beautiful and make for a relaxing setting. The staff were especially kind and helpful, and the food was excellent. The pool was good, and the facilities felt decent for the price. A few things got in the way of a comfortable stay: water drained very slowly in our family room shower and pooled on the bathroom floor, which made the room feel unclean. Loud music from a nearby hotel went on through the night, with karaoke early in the morning and late at night, so it wasn’t peaceful. The car park was also very muddy and hard to get into. It needs proper maintenance or rebuilding.

We ended up staying two nights instead of the one I’d planned. I’d been nervous about travelling with two young kids so soon after the floods from Cyclone Ditwah, but the property felt safe and well maintained once we arrived. It’s a small place with everything we needed, including a lovely swimming pool. The setting is quiet and peaceful, while still close to the main attractions. The staff were warm, attentive, and really willing to go the extra mile. A great choice in Anuradhapura.

We got a lovely rooftop view of Anuradhapura city, and the food and staff service were amazing. Since we arrived late, they set dinner aside for us, and they even helped prepare milk rice to offer for worship. The rooms were clean and quiet, so we could relax after a long drive. The washrooms were clean too, though the layout felt odd: it’s quite large, the shower gel and shampoo were by the sink instead of near the shower, and there’s an empty little square area. The location is convenient for the landmarks, just a 5 min drive to the Ruwanveli Seya. For the price, it’s good value, and I’d recommend it for a short visit.

The food was really tasty, and the rooms were comfortable with spacious washrooms. Service was good, too. It’s a very quiet spot, conveniently placed for visiting Ruwanweli seya and jaya srimaha bodhi. When the hotel is full, they serve a good buffet.
