Theon Resort

The rooms were clean, with AC and hot water, and we had nothing to complain about. My family especially enjoyed the tea. They’re very welcoming, and you should definitely try the food. Highly recommend.

We found the rooms and bathrooms comfortable, clean, and well looked after, and the owner was genuinely helpful and polite. Meals were a highlight too: they made tasty home-style food when we asked, which was really useful after worship when finding dinner in the city at night can be difficult. We stayed two nights at Theon Resort, probably the best budget place we found in Anuradhapura. It’s on Rambewa Road near United Motors, about a 10-minute drive from both the city and the sacred city, so it’s peaceful but a little out of the way. There’s a separate dining area, and all the rooms are upstairs. Getting to them means using an outdoor staircase, which may be inconvenient for older guests. Great value and a home-like stay.

The adjoining Restaurant served clean, tasty food at a low price, and the people there were just as welcoming as family. Shane, the owner, and his wife were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to help us. We felt like family too. The place was exactly as described and very clean, easy to reach on a main road, and close to Anuradhapura’s religious sites. Shopping in Anuradhapura town was fantastic, with prices more reasonable than Colombo. We were lucky to find Theon Resort, and would highly recommend stopping by. You may make lasting friendships.

The staff made us feel so welcome, always kind and ready to help. Our room was bright, comfortable, and clean. The only issue was that WiFi and mobile data weren’t reliable enough for remote work.
