Wilpattu Safari Camp - Campground

We were lucky to get a surprise visit from a local elephant, and the safari was well planned and action packed. We were well fed, too, and managed to see the elusive Sri lankan leopard. The location was amazing, the staff were polite and very accommodating, and the cleanliness was top tier. The tents were spacious and comfortable, with good storage, and the large en-suite was nicely done. The food was very good, and they handled our requests without any hassle. Patrick, the manager, knows his stuff and is clearly running the place well.

A peaceful, scenic setting right by the Hunuwilgama entrance makes Wilpattu Safari Camp a memorable base for a wilderness stay. It’s at the park’s doorstep, just minutes away. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. The food was tasty, came in generous portions, and included both local and Western dishes. Tents were comfortable, well kept, and blended nicely with the surroundings. For comfort, easy access, and an authentic safari feel outside the park, this is undoubtedly the best place to stay. Highly recommended for wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts.

Birdsong was all around us at this spot in the scrub jungle, between the park and the adjoining paddy fields. We even heard an elephant somewhere in the distance. The tents felt well spaced in the jungle, and were roomy and comfortable, with double mosquito netting. The hospitality and food were great, and we had a wonderful jungle safari. Wilpattu had been on my bucket list for a long time and lived up to expectations. Many thanks, and we hope to come back!

We had a brilliant safari team and saw leopards, elephants, and all the Big 5. Patrick and the crew were great. The place was lovely in the jungle, and we even had an elephant come for dinner. The food was lovely and they catered for vegan meals. Staff were lovely, too.
