The AC wouldn’t go above 24°C, so the room felt hot and stuffy. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell throughout the hotel that made it hard to relax. The woman and boy who own the place, rather than staff, were extremely rude and used terrible language. Their behavior felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Food cost far too much for such a small place, and the quality didn’t match the price. A very disappointing stay, definitely not recommended.

A small family runs the place, and they were really nice and helpful. We stayed one night and felt it was worth the price. The rooms cover the basics, with cozy beds, AC, a mini fridge, and hot water showers, though you shouldn’t expect a high-end hotel room. Some things could be improved, but at this price I can’t complain. We had a great experience.

The food is amazing, and the woman cooks incredibly well. If you can, it’s very much worth having dinner here. Room and food prices are good too. The location is very good, and room sizes are fine for families or friends staying two or three nights. Just watch out for insects, there can be a lot in the bathroom.

Every part of the stay seemed thoughtfully handled, from the delicious food to the clean, comfortable rooms. The location was perfect, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful experience at Green Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Anuradapura.

The service was worth more than five stars, especially from the mother, who runs the kitchen and looks after guests. She was a wonderful, very polite host, and we had extremely good breakfast and dinner plus a welcome drink. But the rooms have a humidity problem, and there’s mold in the bathroom. You smell it when you enter and can see it on the walls. That’s why this accommodation is hard to rate. I really hope they fix the room condition, because then it would be absolutely perfect.
