Wilpattu Tree House Hotel

I went to sleep close to nature and woke up to birdsong, fresh air, and views of untouched forest. Evenings around the campfire under a starry sky were special, too. Right at the edge of Wilpattu National Park, the tree house gave us privacy and a chance to disconnect while still keeping the basic comforts. The place is simple but thoughtfully designed, clean, and well maintained. Hosts and staff were warm and attentive, and helpful while respecting our privacy. Food was freshly prepared, delicious, and suited to a relaxed jungle stay. Being so close to Wilpattu made arranging a safari easy. I’d recommend it to nature and wildlife lovers, or anyone after a peaceful stay away from it all near the park.

This was my third visit to Tree house. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the treehouse-like setup feels calm and serene. Sampath, Nelson, and the rest of the crew are friendly, courteous, and very helpful. It has that family-run hotel feel. The main draw for me is being within walking distance of the Wilpattu park entrance. Everything else is a bonus. There’s some room for improvement, but nothing major: they could pay a bit more attention to providing enough towels for the number of guests. When we asked, they fixed it quickly. I’ll be back.

What stood out most was the service. I’ve travelled a lot, and it’s rare for a hotel to remember what you like without being asked. The food was amazing, made with fresh, healthy ingredients, which I really appreciated after spending the day sitting in a jeep. I stayed at Wilpattu House Hotel for 7 days and honestly loved it. My room was cosy and comfortable, surrounded by nature, right in front of the national park. I even saw Brown Hornbills just outside my room, which is very rare. It’s a great place to relax, and you don’t have to travel far or line up early just to get into the morning safari. Definitely recommend it!

The staff were so attentive, caring, and generous. They packed breakfast for our 5:45 safari departure and carried our suitcases up to the tree house. The rooms were clean, the beds extremely comfy, and the food was delicious. The accommodation was beautiful, and it’s about a 30 second drive from the national park. Highly recommend.
