Comfort Beach Hotel

The beach is just a minute away, and Arugam Bay's bars and restaurants are only a couple of minutes farther on foot. I'm halfway through a week here and have been really happy with the place. Saheer is kind, attentive, and always around to answer questions or help out. The room is clean, the water pressure is great, and fresh towels and linen are available whenever we ask. For this price range in Arugam Bay, I'd definitely stay here.

We spent a month here with a friend and loved having somewhere to sit outside, with fans, plus a little patio by each room for drying clothes and a rack and closet. The kitchen has gas, a big fridge and a blender, perfect for fruit shakes, and you can refill your water there instead of using more plastic. Our room had AC and its own fridge. Saheer was a huge help with everything: he cleaned when we asked, got us bicycles, found a surf teacher, and even pumped up our tires. There's no hot water, but in that heat a cold shower was fine. And they have toilet paper :)

For a budget stay near town, this worked well for me as a solo backpacker. I spent one night here. There are rooms with AC and without it at different prices, so you can choose to fit your budget. It also seems like a good option for drivers needing a place to stay in the area. Mr. Saheer was helpful and reachable whenever needed. I'd recommend it.

We spent three days here in September. The little bungalow style rooms each have a porch and are quite cute. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. You're close to the main road through Arugam Bay, while the beach is a few minutes away on foot. Staff were friendly and helpful, though their English was very limited. They can arrange laundry and trips, including the lagoon safari and national park safari, both of which are worth doing.
