Chill Enjoy Cabanas & Restaurant

We liked it so much that, after leaving for Mirissa, we came back the next day. The breakfast is well worth trying. It’s a new place, but already a serious contender for the best cabanas in Tangalla. They’re modern, clean and roomy, with extras like a fridge and hammocks. The beach is only a 5 minute walk across the lagoon, and the team is super friendly and helpful.

We found this cute little family restaurant when we were looking for food around 10PM and thought we’d have to go hungry. They said dinner was still possible. Preparation took a little while, but the wait was absolutely worth it. I had spaghetti with prawns, and my boyfriend ordered grilled fish. Both were super delicious, and we’d go back immediately. The price was reasonable for such a remote location. Big thumbs up!!!!! :)))

That was one of the worst nights we spent in Sri lanka. Staying at "chill enjoy" was not chill at all. The Cabana's look beautiful and the location is a sweet spot, but ours felt wide open. It was one of the two Cabana's with windows that couldn’t be closed, and there was a gap all around the ceiling. We slept with one eye open, surrounded by gecko's, spiders, mosquitoes and other insects. There was a mosquito net, but we found insects inside it, along with dead flies and other bugs. The wooden bed was dusty too. The bathroom window had no lock, and someone could easily get in. We blocked the bathroom door with the huge clothes hanger in case anyone tried. Being somewhere unfamiliar, especially in the middle of nowhere where we knew no-one, we needed to feel safe. The place didn’t seem secure, with no gate or service and no-one watching who came and went. There was also a tarantula nest right next to our cabana, with a HUGE tarantula in it when we saw it in the morning. Breakfast was expensive for a vegan pancake. It was a waste of time. There are lots of guest houses and cabanas around that area, but that night was horrible for us.

I really like the Marakolliya Beach area. Tangalle has big waves, but there are spots that are safe for children. The owners here are helpful and fine, and it’s a good place if you enjoy being close to nature. We saw gray langur monkeys, water monitors, peacocks and more. Bring a flashlight for walks at night.
