Gypsea Arugambay

I’ve spent a month in Sri Lanka, and this is easily my favorite stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with such a cozy design that it felt more like home than a hotel. The people at Gypsea were even better. They made me feel welcome and were always happy to chat. Almost want to keep this hidden gem to myself ;) 100% recommend💙💙💙

The rooms at GypSea have lovely interiors, and the people running the place were really friendly and helpful. We had one of the best Sri Lankan breakfasts of our trip and would definitely visit again. It’s otherwise very nice and quiet, though light sleepers should know the mosque speakers come on for two minutes early in the morning.

Gypsea Hotel is right on the main stretch of Arugam Bay and within walking distance of the beach, so it’s very convenient. The interiors welcomed me with my favorite greenish-blue shade, and I loved the spacious bathroom. It’s a beautiful little boutique hotel with an artistic feel and minimal design, and the rooms are clean and beautifully done. The pathway and welcome drink made the arrival feel warm. Staff were attentive and very friendly, and the food was delicious, truly one of a kind. There’s also a wonderful yoga setup with a very knowledgeable teacher, and safaris can be arranged. We fell in love with the beautiful cats and dogs there, and really appreciated how kindly the place treats animals. Animal lovers will adore it. For me, it was absolutely worth the price. If I come back to Arugam Bay, Gypsea Hotel is where I’d want to stay. Highly recommended!

I tried a traditional yoga class at GypSea yesterday and really enjoyed it. The teacher was friendly, very professional, and clearly knows a lot about yoga. The session lasted two hours and cost 3000LKR. If you’re staying at the hotel, go try yoga with Disna.
