Train View Chalet

The tours were thoughtfully arranged and suited our four children really well. We felt completely at ease again, and it was lovely to meet like friends for the second time. Thanks for everything. We're already looking forward to coming back soon.

Watching trains pass from the room or restaurant was a nice bonus. We stayed for two nights, and the service was very good. The room had no minibar, but it and the facilities were clean. We enjoyed the tasty food, including a good Sri Lankan breakfast and a nice choice for dinner. For the price, it was definitely worth it.

The meals were a real plus, with tasty Sri Lankan and continental choices. Breakfast was fresh and filling, and the staff made an effort to make dining pleasant. The hotel also welcomes pets, which is a rare and useful feature if you're traveling with them. I would suggest keeping pets out of shared places like the restaurant and lounge, though, so all guests can feel comfortable. It's easy to reach by a good road, near enough to Bandarawela but set in a quiet spot. Ella, Haputale, and Lipton’s Seat are also within reach. The calm atmosphere, fresh mountain air, and view of the train line make the setting distinctive. Rooms are cozy and spacious, with simple, thoughtful amenities. The owner is clearly committed to making guests comfortable, and the friendly, attentive staff are genuinely helpful. Train View Hotel in Bandarawela is a peaceful hill country stay with warm hospitality.

The rabbits, guinea pigs, fish pedicure, and trains passing several times a day kept the boys happy. The chalet is peaceful and wonderfully placed for sightseeing, and the manager and staff were always ready to make us comfortable. The food was amazing, bravo au chef.
