We spent 13 of our 15 days in Bentota at Amal beach. The place was clean, with clean toilets and good seats, and the food was good. The staff were friendly and never caused us any problems. They can arrange whatever you ask for. A big thanks to Ranga, who is learning languages and trying to improve every day. He's also a friendly manager.

We were unsure because of a few negative reviews, but our evening turned out nearly perfect. We watched the sunset from the beachside restaurant, had a few drinks and dinner, and the food was great. The staff were professional and helpful. We'd definitely come back.

We ended up paying a little more for a better hotel, thankfully. I had contacted this hotel several times with a simple question about a four-night stay in February, sending messages through both Agoda and Booking.com, but they never replied. It seems unprofessional to ignore potential guests, especially since the place always seems to have availability.

We had such a lovely two-night stay at Amal beach, with the best service and staff in Sri Lanka. I mentioned that it was my boyfriend's birthday, and the man who runs the hotel arranged a lovely cake and dinner decorations for us. It made the stay feel really special. Thank you!

Our last experience here took some of the shine off Sri Lanka, and we won't be returning to Amal Beach Hotel. The laundry cost 11,400 (38 euro!!!) for a small bag of 11 items, with shirts charged at €3 each. We should have checked the price first, but every other hotel we'd stayed at during the previous five weeks had been so reasonably priced. We can't wait to visit Sri Lanka again someday, just not this hotel.
