You can spend time wandering the acres of paths through the striking grounds, with their native plants and trees. The spacious accommodation sits on a remarkable Bentota estate designed by Sri Lanka’s leading architect, Geoffrey Bawa. A stay here is well worth it, especially if you want room to explore, rest and find some inspiration.

There are even fireflies here. If architecture or landscaping that brings people close to nature interests you, give this place a try for a distinctive stay. Bawa’s resort and infinity pool are great, but this feels like another side of his world.

This distinctive private villa has just two bedrooms and works as a small hotel, while also being a lovely park and a popular place for wedding photos. For $10 per person, you can walk around the grounds and see inside the building. It’s a treat for nature lovers, and you may spot monkeys in the trees.

The place is stunning, with lots of spots for photos all in one location, and I thought it was worth 25,000. The washroom cleanliness, though, wasn’t in good condition.
